The Be-Plas Green Initiative

At Be-Plas Hygienic Walls and Ceilings, we are committed to minimising the impact of our activities on the environment.

In order to achieve this we are implementing an Environmental Management System, setting achievable and measurable targets driven by action plans, promoting environmental awareness to all employees through a structured training programme and complying with all relevant environmental legislation.

Some steps we have taken to achieve our environmental goals include;

Making our warehouse ecologically aware -

  • Using 100% recyclable packaging, wherever possible.
  • The pallets we use are made from reclaimed materials and are FSC certified.
  • Our trucks run on LPG, resulting in a lower environmental impact.
  • Encouraging employees to recycle materials.

Implementing a waste minimisation programme -

  • We have increased stock levels so that our customers can use the right size sheets for a particular job. We also match trim sizes to sheet sizes where possible to reduce waste.

Despite the often negative portrayal of plastics, the material actually boasts some surprisingly green credentials if it is developed, used and disposed of responsibly.

The energy used to manufacture and process plastic is low in comparison to other materials, including ceramic tiles, as lower temperatures are required. The light weight of the material also means that transport costs and emissions are reduced.

Plastics last as long, in many cases longer, than the life time of the building in which they are installed. Their durable and versatile nature mean that many of our customers tell us that an installation they had 20 years ago, still looks as good today as it did then. In some cases our panels also enhance energy efficiency as our insulated panels reduce heat loss.

Whilst we don’t get repeat business for refurbishing these rooms, we are happy and safe in the knowledge that these materials, and our customers’ facilities, are putting no further strain on the planets resources.

The Be-Plas Green Initiative means that we are committed to acting responsibly, reducing waste and recycling our materials. We will also continue in the research and development of new materials and products with a lower environmental impact.
